Design

The first step in the ADVANCE product development process is to gain an understanding of the concepts and objectives of the product. Next we determine the design requirements before transitioning to the production phase.

ADVANCE has multiple installations of the latest CAD software used by clients. Through seamless transfer of designs and data in the form of the interface with clients, we work to accurately appraise design data and manufacture prototype products in the shortest possible lead time.

ADVANCE offers design subcontracting services. We also send out engineers to work on-site, via our partner company, Amoldage Co., Ltd.
We assist clients with design work to ensure a seamless workflow through to prototype manufacturing, thereby reducing overall lead times.

Preliminary design: Design data from the client forms the basis of modeling using 3-D CAD and design software

Modelers fully understand the concepts and design restrictions to generate data to be used as the basis of the detailed design, prototype manufacturing and eventual mass production. The modeling phase involves a number of design reviews (DR) with the client.
ADVANCE can also modify 3-D data prepared by the client where necessary to achieve a designated shape, or modify models in order to address any issues specifically requested in conjunction with processing or concretization.

Reverse engineering: Deriving design information about an existing product, via a combination of measurement, observation and/or software analysis

Where design information is not available for the purpose of a product upgrade or other modifications, 3-D scanning can be used to obtain accurate physical measurements that are then used to generate 3-D data via modeling. Scanned STL and CAD data is used in the prototype manufacturing process.

Detailed design: Fusing the preliminary design with functionality and mechanical requirements

Modeling of the preliminary design is used to confirm the shape. This is then combined with the functional and mechanical requirements of the product to produce a detailed design.

Where adjustments need to be made to the preliminary design to accommodate mechanical requirements, we propose solutions from the manufacturing perspective based on our experience in prototype production.

Amoldage, the ADVANCE’s partner company, is the staffing agency, providing design engineers to work on site. Amoldage will identify the right person for the job and provide all necessary assistance to ensure that the product development process goes smoothly in a flowing way.
